Me, I fix moons. I bet you didn’t know moons need fixing, but they do. Moons need tending, adjusting and fine-tuning. And this requires patience, dedication and commitment, as once you’ve touched a moon it becomes your responsibility.
People take moons for granted, always there. Always beautiful to look at. Always reliable in their phases, always predictable. Moons move tides but also move feelings, emotions and desires. So there is nothing worst than a broken moon. A moon out of sync, behaving erratically. The consequences can be devastating, not only geologically for the planet they orbit around but also spiritually for the people trusting them.
So that’s what we, moon mechanics, do. We make sure moons keep being moons, so planets can keep being planets and people can keep having dreams.
Being a moon mechanic, however, is a lonely job. So I decided to write here some of the thoughts I entertain during the long periods of idle time I have while travelling from one moon to the next that needs my attention.
I don't know if your planet has any moons. I hope it does, as a planet without a moon is like music without a dancer. But if you like what you read here, think of me next time you look at the sky. I might be there, busy, making sure there is still something up there deserving of your wonder.
